Brett Favre explains his Carson Wentz comments

Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre made the fuss last week by suggesting that the Eagles should keep Nick Falls instead of Carson Wentz after the 2018 season. On Tuesday, Favre explained his comments, noting his friendship with Eagles coach Doug Pederson – and made it clear to the Peders that Wentz is still Pederson’s man.

“Doug and I have no problem with each other,” Favre said on SeverusXM NFL radio. “It simply came to our notice then. It’s not theirs. That’s what he said – I don’t disagree with him. If I had that, I would have said the same. They chose Carson Wentz. I’m not saying it’s wrong. I’m not saying that’s true. I’m just saying that based on that year, how Nick played, not because he won the Super Bowl as an early quarterback, but because he led that team. And I have no question that guys like Carson Wentz. I have no question that he has the potential to be that kind of player, i.e. capable of leading the team to the Super Bowl. Will it be Philly? I do not know. Right now the organization is committed to him and it was just my opinion that based on the results and outcomes of how Nick plays, I would have stuck with him. Carson is not beaten at all. ”

So what’s wrong with Wentz?

“Maybe he’s suppressing,” Favre said. “There are definitely reasons why we are not his private, because we are not in his meetings, we are not in his daily affairs. I see it when I evaluate quarterbacks, you know, there’s a way you want them in the lineup when everything is going right. They will not hurt you. But then, when the chips are down, you need a play, it’s not all or nothing, we’re behind, or hurting all our receivers, we’ve got a band-aid group of guys, when that guy has those players Advanced, you know, take Aaron Rogers – and of course he’s in a different relic – but it doesn’t matter who the receiver plays for him. It seems so easy to him. That’s what you’re looking for.

“And everyone is different, you know? Drew Bryce is a different dynamic quarterback than Aaron Rogers. But when he gets there, he makes it easy. And of course Tom Brady, you know, Russell Wilson, they’re just better than average. They make an average team or maybe make an average team, watch year after year. And that’s what you’re looking for, for me, that’s what you’re looking for. Because he has suffered many injuries. No question. Carson isn’t this immune for himself, but he’s just okay, and for many reasons, but can he make us better than he is? Or can someone else make us better than okay? That is the question. ”

Wentz can really push. As we have repeatedly said PFT Live, Wentz could attempt a betrayal to justify the team’s repeated confidence in him, from trading it to drafting it, to give Wentz a big deal over the falls. Wentz can feel the pressure to prove the team right, and that can be too much pressure.
