Breonna Taylor’s ex-boyfriend Jamarcus Glover has been arrested on drug charges

Glover was booked Thursday on a number of drug-related charges, including complicity in possession of a controlled substance for cocaine and heroin, complicit trafficking in marijuana, involvement with physical evidence and involvement in cocaine trafficking, records show. He is being held on a $ 50,000 bond.

Glover was a focus in an anesthesia probe by Louisville, Kentucky, police that eventually led officers to Taylor’s home in the early morning of March 13th. There, police executed a “no-knock” order and returned fireworks after Taylor’s current friend fired a warning shot because he thought they were burglars.

No drugs were found in the apartment, but Taylor, a 26-year-old black woman and EMT, was shot dead. Like the murder of George Floyd’s police in Minneapolis, her death has sparked ongoing national talks about racial injustice and police brutality.

Glover was arrested the night Taylor was murdered but released on bail. His arrest Thursday came as a result of his failure to stand trial on separate drug offenses last month, according to Jeff Cook, a spokesman for the Commonwealth’s Law Office.

A Glover lawyer confirmed to CNN that his client was arrested Thursday morning, but declined to comment further. A lawyer for Taylor’s family also declined to comment on Glover’s arrest.

Glover and Taylor had a previous relationship. But Glover was not Taylor’s friend at the time of her death, and he was not in her apartment that fateful morning.

A CNN investigation found that detectives linked Taylor’s home to Glover, who was suspected of supplying a local drugstore. Police said Glover recently used Taylor’s home as his “current home address,” according to a search warrant. The detective who wrote the confirmation said he saw Glover running into Taylor’s apartment in mid-January and went with a package before going to a “known drug house”.
The countdown for answers in the case Breonna Taylor expects as patience falters in Louisville

Taylor’s apartment on the South Side of Louisville was one of five locations that police received searches for as part of the investigation.

One officer later told investigators that he believed Taylor was alone. But in fact, she slept next to her current boyfriend, Kenneth Walker. Walker told investigators he heard knocking on the door and assumed it was Glover. Walker seized his gun, which was legal, by his attorney.

The two dressed and made their way to the front door as they flew off the hinges. Walker fired a shot. That’s when the police fire back.

Meanwhile, Glover was arrested across the city, the CNN investigation found.

Taylor’s sister, Ju’Niyah Palmer, previously told CNN that Taylor, an EMT, was not involved in Glover’s alleged drug operation and had forbidden him to bring that aspect of his life into her personal life.

“You can not come into my house with drugs,” she quoted her sister as saying to Glover. “My sister lives here and I can not hurt her by what you do.”

CNN’s Scott Glover, Collette Richards, Curt Devine and Drew Griffin contributed to this report.
