Braves, Josh Tomlin looks at Phillies’ full sweep

After another come-from-behind win Saturday night, the Atlanta Braves will attempt to complete a three-game sweep against the Philadelphia Phillies Sunday night in a national television game on ESPN.

The Braves recorded a blowout win in the opener of Friday’s series against Aaron Nola and then trained 4-0 in the seventh Saturday before taking down a late rally and winning on a walk-off single by Adam Duvall. Max Fried turned in another dominant performance on Friday, while Robbie Erlin and the bullpen came in well enough on Saturday.

Atlanta will turn to Josh Tomlin to make his second start of the season in Sunday’s final. Tomlin allowed two runs over four innings while throwing a season-high 51 pitches in his first start against the Nationals on Tuesday. Whatever the role, Tomlin has effectively placed this season for a 2.35 ERA and a 1.59 FIP in 15 1/3 innings so far in 2020.

The Phillies will face right-hander Zach Eflin who is looking to get his season on track. Elfin makes his fourth start of the season. He kept the Yankees scoreless over four innings in his season debut, but has been tagged for 12 hits and eight runs over his last two starts combined. He allowed five hits, three walks and four runs in four innings last time out against the Red Sox.

On the injury front, Atlanta could be close to getting a key player back. Ronald Acuña Jr. was removed to start working out on the field on Saturday and is scheduled to do so again on Sunday. If he does not report a conflict, he could be activated soon.

Ozzie Albies on the other hand is still several days away. Albies has received treatment but is not planning to resume slaughter until Monday.
