Brandon Allen will replace the injured Bur Burrow at CB for the Cincinnati Bengals, the source says.

Cincinnati – Bengals quarterback Brandon Allen will handle the injured Joe Burroughs as the team’s starter, a source confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday.

Allen, who has spent the entire season on the practice team, will begin his fourth NFL career against the New York Giants on Sunday. The other three starts came with the Denver Broncos last season.

Allen, a sixth-round pick in the 201 draft, was picked up by the Bengals during training camp as a contingency option due to COVID-19. He was in the final prison cut of the team and joined the practice team.

The NFL Network first reported that Alan would start for the Bengals.

After the Bengals picked the borough with the top overall pick in the 2020 draft, they chose not to add a second quarterback to the 53-man roster. On Monday, Bengals coach Zack Taylor said that Ellen had canceled the practice squad this season due to injuries she received from the team.

“It’s on the active roster that the practice team doesn’t really matter,” Taylor said. “He still does this kind of stuff in the room.”

Alan and Taylor are familiar with each other. Both were with the Los Angeles Rams in 2017 and 2018, while Taylor was the assistant coach. Taylor noted Allen’s experience with the team’s system while discussing quarterback options for the rest of the season.

Burroughs was placed on the injured reserve after Washington tore multiple ligaments in his left knee during last week’s 20-9 loss. The schedule for burrow surgery or ultimate compensation is still unknown.

Allen gets a nod from second-year quarterback Ryan Finley as a Cincinnati starter. The 2019 fourth-round pick Finlay started three games in 2019 as the Bengals evaluated their quarterback options before the 2020 draft.

Finley has served as the team’s primary backup quarterback for the past two seasons but he went 3-of-10 for 30 yards against Washington.

“It’s in a difficult position in the second half, but it’s life as a backup quarterback,” Taylor said. “You have to get ready to go. There are things I wish I could have put him in a better position for a better chance, but the main thing is that we didn’t do it and couldn’t get it. Help us win. Any points in the second half to do. “
