“The media is a criminal network that has very few honest people,” Parscale tweeted to his more than 735,000 followers. “They have no intention of telling the truth. I have seen many live in fear of a negative story. I’m happy to be able to continue fighting with @realDonaldTrump against America’s greatest enemy, the media! ”

The reaction to Parscale’s comments on the media sparked a quick reaction from members of the Fourth Estate on social media.

Trump announced Parscale’s new role as senior advisor to the campaign on Wednesday afternoon.

“I am pleased to announce that Bill Stepien has been promoted to the position of Trump’s campaign manager,” Trump said in a statement. “Brad Parscale, who has been with me for a long time and spearheaded our tremendous digital and data strategies, will remain in that role while serving as the campaign’s senior advisor. They were both very involved in our historic 2016 victory, and I look forward to a great and very important second victory together. ”
