Brad Paisley opened 2020 re-imagined Macy’s spectacular 4th of July fireworks on NBC with a good dose of country, performing “American Saturday Night” live from the Grand Ole Opry.
“American Saturday Night,” from the 2009 Paisley album of the same name, set a nice tone for the evening’s show, which was held in New York City but featured musical performances by artists from across the country. Paisley, on the Opry stage, appropriately changed his lyrics “live from New York” to “live from Nashville” this year.
Without a live audience in front of him, Paisley yelled “Happy July 4th!” to all the spectators at home.
He returned to the Opry stage later in the evening for an encore performance, this time playing the new song “No I in Beer”.
John Legend, The Black Eyed Peas, Lady A, The Killers, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley and national youth poet laureate Amanda Gorman were also in the lineup ahead of this year’s fireworks display. An encore presentation of the show will follow at 10:00 pm ET on NBC.
