Bracket Science Bubble Watch Watch: Teams on the Cut Line and Possible Bid Thieves in Conference Tournaments

Conference tournaments are his last chance to make an NCAA tournament for the teams on the bubble that he will make his case to the selection committee. Or, they can take the decision out of their hands by winning their league’s automatic bid. We can also see teams winning their tournaments, which in no other way can “steal” the bid, pushing someone else’s bubble.

Here’s a Perfect Conference given by K Conference Conference Look at this week’s big conference tournaments.

ACC

ACC Tournament Schedule

This can be a huge open. There are some good teams in this league, but no great teams, giving the Outerers a great chance to score.

Bubble teams

Syracuse – Orange will start the week as the second team out of my brackets. Their primary issues are the lack of quality wins away from home. They are only 2-7 away from home. He is better than two wins at NC State.

N.C. State – There are late additions to wolfpack bubbles and their stay can be short. They have won five games in a row to get four games above .500, but the only win in Virginia is significant. That’s their only Quad 1 win and it’s just 4-8 against the top two Quadrants. He will run into something cold to get the attention of the selection committee.

Potential bid thief

Duke – After playing themselves out of the bubble, the Blue Devils are five wins away from one place on the field. When they get hot they need to make a mojo channel a few weeks in advance.

American Athletic Conference

Schedule of AAC Tournament

Houston is the only fixed thing, although regular-season champ Wichita State is looking better. In order for the team to get a big berth, they will probably have to go through the Kurgas.

Bubble teams

Wichita State – The Shockers beat Houston along the way to win the regular season title. They also have SMUs due to covid problems with Mustangs. Did not play and only played Memphis once, which was a 20-point defeat. They should be fine until they lose against Houston. Any other damage makes things distract.

Memphis – The Tigers came so close to a big win against Houston that they needed to restart their tournament. The big win over Wichita State is great, but it’s hard to see Memphis as an at-big team without beating the Kumgers. Tulsa has also caught him back and done two losses.

SMU – We don’t know much about the 11-4 Mustangs, which have been sticking to COVID issues since February 8th. They were impatient by Houston and split with Memphis in the regular season. They also lost at home in Cincinnati, the only result that really comes out. They don’t have the brackets so they can play Houston before the conference final, so if they get there, we’ll have to see if there’s enough help to beat Wichita State.

Potential bid thief

SMU – While I have the Mustangs as a bubble team, chances are they will have to win a conference tournament to get admission.

Large 12

Schedule of big 12 tournaments

With seven dominant teams this season, there are no bubble teams or potential bid stealers.

Big east

Big pre-tournament schedule

It’s been a rough year for the Big East with covid and injury problems and there may not be many teams in the field. Three will appear at the top of the bracket, but there are a couple of others who will not be able to make it.

Bubble teams

Xavier – The Musketeers made an early start to the season, but they derailed by COVID. They have lost five of their last seven and only one of those losses has been in the potential squad for the NCAA Tournament. Home wins over Crayton and Oklahoma keep them afloat for now, but the margin for error is very low.

St. John’s – Jonis is a long shot. They have big wins against Villanova and Crete on, but they have lost at home to Marquette and Deep Ul. If they don’t enter, it will be the same.

Potential bid thief

Marquette – The Golden Eagles stayed high and won four of their last five, including one in North Carolina. There is something to be said for warming up at the right time.

Big Ten

Big Ten tournament schedule

The Big Ten has been a bubble fluid this season, with at least four teams spending time there. Michigan State has recently become a team to watch, but all of a sudden, Maryland is back to tour again.

Bubble teams

Michigan State – The Spartans have scored considerable runs in the middle of the brackets from dying in the water. The loss of the first round in the Big Ten tournament, and even that may not be enough, is the only thing that left them behind now.

Maryland – Just a week ago, Maryland beat Michigan State 18 at home to take a 14-10 lead with games against Northwestern and Penn State to win for the fifth straight. The terrapins had to win one of them to stay on the field safely. Instead, they blew big leads in both games and now enter the Big Ten tournament 14-12. The loss of the opener is a very nervous choice on Sunday to go to 14-13. Even in the epidemic season, the selection committee will have to swallow hard to take a game above a set of .500.

Potential bid thief

Penn State – Not many good choices here. Healthy Minnesota would be great, but that’s nothing. Indiana has talent, but often it seems lost. Penn State has had some good moments this season. The Nietzsche Lions subdued Maryland, beating Wisconsin, VCU and Rutgers at home and winning at Virginia Tech. Can they win five in a row in this tournament? Probably not, but they will fight.

Mountain west

Schedule of MWC Tournament

The league has built a shop on the bubble, with only regular season champions San Diego State not among the four potential NCAA tournament teams with it. Boise State was among my last four at the start of the week, while Utah State came out of the first four out.

Bubble teams

State of Colorado – The Rams are a .500 game against the Quad 1 and also the Quad 2, but they have no other losses. That’s just their schedule and everything they’ve done has come down to good league play. They should make it if they can avoid the discomfort.

Boise State – The Broncos finally fought down the stretch of the season in three consecutive defeats. The first two losses were on the state of San Diego, which is no problem, but the third one was a home quad 4 fresno state. They were also swept by Nevada in the regular season. They have the only Quad 1 non-conference win in the league, which came at BYU.

State of Utah – Aggie got second place in the conference, but is at a disadvantage due to two Q losses, one of which came in a non-conference play. They are just 3-5 against Q1 ads 1 and 2 and all three wins came home.

Potential bid thief

Nevada – The Wolf Pack Pack had some good moments in conference play, including a sweep of Boise State and a win against Colorado State in their only meeting this season. He has suffered a lot of bad losses to be in the team in large numbers, but this week he could be dangerous.

Pack-12

Schedule of Pack-12 tournament

The Pack-12 had a rough time in the non-conference game and will appear in the lower seed for its good teams. In my current brackets USC is the most ranked Pack-12 team and the Trojans are just six. That said, there’s still only one team on the bubble, and it’s one of the Blue Bloods of the game in a year that has been rough on that group of teams. Arizona will also have a bubble team, but they have banned self-imposed post-season.

Bubble teams

UCLA – The Bruins have beaten the Skids at the end of the season and have lost three matches to qualify for the Pack-12 tournament. They are still on the upper side of the bubble and should be fine if they can avoid bad damage.

Potential bid thief

Stanford – Despite living a nomadic existence early on, the Cardinals got off to a good start this season and to his credit Alabama has won. They have struggled to pull down despite losing four in a row this coming week. If they can find their form, they have a chance to be dangerous.

S.E.C.

SEC Tournament Schedule

The SEC has had several teams advance this season and on the bubble, but six teams are strong on the field and only one is left on the bubble. That team is involved in the first four outs.

Bubble teams

Ole Miss – It would be difficult, but not impossible, for the rebels to shoot themselves in the foot in enough time to make the tournament ultra-huge. They finished strong with seven wins from their last night, but one of the losses was one of two in those three quads. There is a potential quality win if they can get there.

Potential bid thief

Georgia – Bulldogs have enough hits to be dangerous, but can they do four strings in a row? They’ve won over LSU, Missouri, Mississippi and urn burn, so they have to be taken seriously.
