There are lots of wireless earbuds on the market, but many of them can’t claim to be as unique as the new Boss Sport Open Airbuds. They are IPX4 rated, can go up to 8 hours of battery life on a single charge – and no skin contact while sitting Above Allows the ears and listeners to be aware of their surroundings in a way that practically no other earbuds can.
According to Bose, the buds gently grasp the outer part of the ear to stay locked in place without the need for an outer ear tip. There is also no squeezing or vibration as this does not use the same audio deo-delivery methods as the bone-carrying earbuds. Instead, each bud “places and locates a small bipolar transducer for loud and clear individual audio dio that rests on the ear.” They should be made very good for listening to music, podcasts and more while being alert during daily activities and workouts. The idea of pipe-in audio dio at a short distance from your ear is also something we’ve seen in Bose Frames.
The open design of the buds reminds me of an old-school Bluetooth earpiece.
Bose Sport Open Airbuds has simple button controls that allow quick access to common tasks such as dropping songs or calling your voice assistant. With an IPX4 water resistance rating, this should be able to manage sweat workouts and rain jogging sessions. And thanks to the Antenna antenna and Bluetooth 5.1, the connection looks like it should be reliably even solid. Buds is compatible with both Android and iOS, with an app to control and personalize sound settings.
Bose’s new buds are available for pre-order today on the manufacturer’s website and in the pre-200 only at Best Buy. They should start sending to customers later this month.
