‘Borderlands 3’ is in a moment of near perfection, no more nerfs, just a couple more fans

It’s been a long time since Borderlands 3 has been in such a good state in terms of class balance and subclass between characters. Nerfs to Mayhem 10 Enemy health and the benefits of many weapons and abilities have resulted in the best game since the last days of Mayhem 4 before Mayhem 2.0 arrived. While I think 2.0 needs work, I want to recommend a very clear thing to Gearbox to advance here.

No more nerfs.

Seriously, while there are strong new builds from action skills especially, I highly recommend simply … leaving everything alone.

Moze’s Iron Bear is now an absolute monster for the first time … almost never. This has always been an action skill that has suffered compared to other classes, and has felt useful for a few weeks out of the 9 months or so that Borderlands 3 has been out, it’s time to leave it alone.

Similarly, people are discovering how to do great damage as Amara builds melee again for the first time in about eight months. Some of these are stupidly strong, but they should be left alone, as this is the first time that close combat has been viable in years, thanks to recent scale benefits and the new Guardian Rank ability that further increases the Melee damage (and even does it according to non-Amara characters).

I think we are very, very close to being absolutely perfect, and there is a little more work to do, if you ask me.

Zane’s clone benefits are a good start. It’s more powerful, but it’s not broken, but I think we definitely need to see polished SNTL in terms of the damage it does as well, as it’s unfortunate compared to the clone and Zane himself. Zane also needs 95% of his upgraded class mods so people can use other things besides Seein ‘Dead.

Amara’s Ties that Bind nullifies everything else in her arsenal, and while I don’t think she should be nerfed, I think we need to see some action skill benefits for her other two abilities, as those are little more than triggers for the anointing.

FL4K is in a better place than most people give it credit for, as it is still the best boss hunter in the game. But it is in dire need of improvements for pet damage, as despite the scale of action skills, it is still almost impossible to create something close to a reasonable pet build, though that’s supposed to be the core from his class. I really don’t think there has been a time in the entire game where a FL4K pet build was really cool.

Moze Moze is perfect now. Do nothing. Maybe make better ointments for her.

But yeah, we are so close to a variety of weapons, abilities, and builds that are workable in Borderlands 3 game ending and feels great. Just a little more work to do, and none of those jobs require altering anything.

I still think Gearbox needs to add a fourth skill tree for each class at some point, but that will obviously turn everything upside down. But for now, we’re almost there.
