8:57 pm: Bichette’s injury is a “low class” injury, and he gets a second opinion about the injury, reports Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca (Twitter links). The fact that Bichette gets a second opinion could be bundled in an earlier report from the Rob Longley of Toronto Sun., who heard from a source that Bichette could be until mid-September. More will be announced tomorrow, Davidi notes, once a specialist reviewed Bichette’s MRI results.
2.45 pm: The Blue Jays have placed Bichette on the 10-day injured list with a knee injury, according to Scott Mitchell of TSN. Santiago Espinal was recalled to replacing him on the active roster. Except for the 10 days he will spend at the IL, a schedule for Bichette’s return is not yet known.
10:51 am: Blue Jays appreciated short stop Bo Bichette is on his way to an MRI on his right knee, manager Charlie Montoyo told reporters (including Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet). He reported some discomfort after yesterday’s game against the Rays, relays Scott Mitchell of TSN (Twitter link).
There is no indication yet that the situation is quite worrying. Any absence from Bichette, however, would be a serious blow to the Jays’ 7-9 hopes of winning. Despite the team’s low start, the 22-year-old Bichette came out of the fire. He hit .356 / .387 / .678 with five home runs over his first 62 record appearances. In the early stages, he significantly increased his contact percentage when he cut back on strikeouts. Bichette is apparently well on his way to the star record where he has risen since his first career as an elite prospect.
If Bichette missed time, the Jays figure would turn her around Joe Panik en / as Santiago Espinal on shortstop. Veteran Rubén Tejada also sits in the player pool of the organization, but he is not on the roster of 40 men.
