With The Stir of Dawn free content update
Blasphemous It is expanding with a major free update for PCs and consoles on August 4, 2020.
The Stir of Dawn is our long-awaited New Game + update, but that’s far from the only reason to revisit. Blasphemous. The Game Kitchen is also adding “new stories, NPCs, bosses, enemies, and areas to discover”, fast travel points to make the secret quest less complicated, more articles, “level works of art”, voice acting revised and Spanish language support and numerous balance changes.
The system of choosing your penance also caught my attention. It is a way to optionally shake your typical Blasphemous routine with challenging tradeoffs. For example, a penance, Unwavering Faith, cuts the damage of your Mea Culpa sword in half, but grants an endless supply of regenerative fervor.
Just yesterday, I was looking in my Switch library for older games that had slipped off the home screen, and Blasphemous outstanding. I was so closely to start a new career, partly because I want to see every horrible boss again, partly because so much time has passed that I don’t remember how to play well.
Two weeks is not a long wait. I will make full use of New Game + and those additional fast travel points.
