A BLACK Lives Matter protester was shot dead last night during a march in Austin, Texas.
Protesters also torched a juvenile detention center and police compound in Seattle, Washington, on another night of chaos across the country.
The protests continue two months after the day of George Floyd’s murder.
Floyd died May 25 in Minneapolis after a white police officer pressed his knee to his neck for nearly eight minutes when he said he was unable to breathe.
Meanwhile, Texas police confirmed that a man was shot dead at 9:52 p.m. M. Yesterday night during a protest in downtown Austin.
A clip of the scene shared online protesters marching through the streets shouting “black lives” and waving “BLM” banners.
Seconds later, five shots are fired and the video loses focus when protesters yell and run for cover.
Officer Katrina Ratcliff said at a press conference last night that the person who shot and killed the man had shot from inside the vehicle.
Initial reports indicated that “the victim may have carried a rifle,” Ratliff told reporters, adding that the suspect was detained and was cooperating with police.
In a statement, Austin Mayor Steve Adler said the city is “shaken up” after the night of the carnage.
He said, “All I know is that someone who dies while protesting is horrible.
“Our city is shocked and, like so many in our community, I am heartbroken and dazed.”
It comes amid scenes of chaos in Seattle yesterday when protesters torched buildings in the city, including a juvenile detention center.
Thousands of people took to the streets of the city on Saturday afternoon, and police declared the incident a “riot” just before 4:30 p.m. M. Local time.
Protesters tore apart the Eastern Police Precinct and set it on fire, while some protesters attempted to damage the fence surrounding the compound and disable security cameras.
Police confirmed that 45 arrests had been made and that 21 officers had been injured.
Seattle police confirmed on Twitter that protesters were reported to be breaking windows at businesses near the police compound.
Tensions had calmed down recently in Seattle following the removal of the CHOP zone earlier this month, although President Trump ordered a Border Patrol Tactical Unit to nullify the protests.
‘VETERINARY WALL’
Protesters in Oregon were also joined by a “vet wall” that took to the streets to protect protesters from possible violence by federal agents deployed in Portland.
About 4,000 people gathered in federal court and the Justice Center for the 59th day of unrest on Friday, singing “the feds are going home” and “the lives of blacks matter.”
But ugly scenes were reported later in the night, with protesters popping fireworks and federal agents throwing tear gas at crowds.
Some protesters threw bottles, rocks and other explosives at the police officers, and the police stated that the peaceful protests had turned into “riots” in the afternoon.
The “Veterinarian Wall” was prompted to take action after images appeared last weekend of federal agents hitting and shooting tear gas at Navy veteran Christopher David.
Denver also saw bleak scenes of violence over the weekend, when a car passed through a crowd and a protester was shot in the suburb of Aurora during the protests.
The Aurora Police Department said on Twitter that protesters were walking on Interstate 225 on Saturday when a vehicle passed through them in Colorado.
Police said a protester fired a weapon and hit at least one person who was transferred to a hospital in stable condition.
Three people were also accidentally shot in Louisville, Kentucky, during protests demanding justice for Breonna Taylor, a black woman who was shot dead by police when they carried out a search warrant in March.
Numerous Black Lives Matter protests have taken place in recent weeks following the fatal 26-year-old EMT shooting.
Members of the heavily armed black militia of the Atlanta-based “Not F *** ing Around Coalition” (NFAC) confronted a right-wing paramilitary group called the “Three Percenters.”
At least three people were injured after the clash between the heavily armed groups that converged.
The victims were rushed to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
It occurs when President Donald Trump reportedly ordered the Border Patrol Specialized Tactical Unit to be “on hold” in Seattle amid ongoing protests.
This team is similar to the unit the White House deployed in Portland, where protesters and police have repeatedly clashed, The New York Times reported.
As the Black Lives Matter protests continue in major U.S. cities, Trump has promised to use military force to quell them.
