We had our first glimpse of Dragon Age 4 in a long time during the EA Play Live 2020 event, and now we have an encouraging development update. Despite the BioWare team working from home due to the coronavirus pandemic, progress is made in the next entry in the Dragon Age series.
The BioWare executive producer confirmed this in a tweet on Wednesday afternoon, adding that the situation of working from home has had a negative impact on development.
I realize most of you are here to get news from Dragon Age and there hasn’t been much of that lately … Let me mention a few things I can say: We are working on the next Dragon Age2. Yes, we are working from home3. Working from home is more difficult 4. We are making progress July 22, 2020
First revealed with a cryptic trailer in 2018, we haven’t heard much from BioWare about Dragon Age 4, still untitled, until now. Even today, we only have a few precious official details, not to mention some juicy rumors, to work with.
There’s the slogan revealed during The Game Awards 2018, “The Dread Wolf Rises,” which could mean any number of things. Then we have an interesting concept art from the EA event. And last but not least, we know it will hit PS5 and Xbox Series X, but probably not until 2022 at the earliest.
Rumors from last year say Dragon Age 4 will lean on some of the “live service” elements of EA’s online games, clarifying that it won’t be “Anthem with dragons.” In 2018, BioWare CEO Casey Hudson clarified that fans will be “relieved” that the upcoming Dragon Age game is “story and character focused,” adding that it will involve “continued narration after the main story. “
