Bill sends rookies home from camp after the positive


The Buffalo Bills sent all of their rookies home from training camp Thursday after a fifth positive COVID-19 test at the facility.

Players who were at the meeting facilities will participate in virtual meetings, ”reports the NFL Network. The Bills announced the decision in a statement.

‘Proactive and preventive approach’

“As medical experts informed us when the training camp was opened, we expected to have positive tests for COVID,” the statement read. “With five from the start of the trial period last Tuesday, we decided to take a disciplined, proactive, and preventive approach to eliminate additional cases within our team.”

The team did not announce a timeline to plan the resumption of activities in person.

The Bills rookies reported that they camped July 21 at the team’s facility in Orchard Park, New York, outside Buffalo. Prior to Thursday, three Bills players had tested positive and were placed on the team’s reserve / COVID-19 list. NFL Network reports that two more Bills players were added on Thursday.

Players cannot enter the team’s facilities until they pass three consecutive COVID-19 tests, meaning that the players who tested positive did so after being initially cleared.

Veterans have yet to report to Bills’ facilities for training camp.
