Watch the trailer for Sofia Coppola’s new movie, On the Rocks, evokes a potential sense of nostalgia as stars Bill Murray and Rashida Jones run a pre-pandemic New York City.
Jones plays Laura, a woman whose life begins to unmask as her husband Dean (Marlon Wayans) begins to spend more and more time away from home. Does he serve her? She takes her ignorance to her father Felix (Murray), whose history of charming women makes him, in her mind, the perfect person to figure things out.
Unfortunately, Felix’s plan is just to follow Dean around and see what he’s up to. Although Laura is initially resistance, she eventually ends up together, and the two set off on an adventure across the city. It’s not only an opportunity for her to argue about her different views on relationships – Felix is nothing if not outdated, and mentions the male need to kill, while Laura finds that remote thinking – but it’s also an opportunity for her to bundle.
The film, distributed by A24 and Apple, will debut on Apple TV Plus in October.
