Bill Belichick called the Jets’ resignation a “great moment.”

Bill Belichick is on Mount Rushmore, an American sports coach.

The head coach of the New England Patriots has led the franchise to nine Super Bowls, winning six of them. He won two Super Bowls as a coordinator with the New York Giants. Those championships produced some very exciting and dramatic moments in the history of football.

Belichick has experienced the highest heights of sports. In those tall people? Leaving New York Jets. That’s according to Belichick, who hangs out with his former employer on Tuesday, a day after he killed her in a dramatic fashion on “Monday Night Footbal.”

The resignation of the infamous Jets of Belichic

Belichick famously resigned as head coach of the Jets in 2000 before coaching the game. He was the team’s defensive coordinator under his mentor Bill Parcel during 1997-99 and was preparing to take his place after the 1999 season when Parcel resigned.

A day after accepting the position in January 2000, Belichik took to the podium for what was supposed to be his inaugural news conference at Jets headquarters. Instead, this happened.

“Due to the various uncertainties surrounding my position and the new ownership of the team, I have decided to resign as head coach of the New York Jets,” Belichick said.

Three weeks later, the Patriots traded a first-round pick of the Jets to keep Belichic as their head coach, and the fortunes of the two franchises and the history of the NFL changed forever.

The Patriots regularly harassed the Jets during a two-decade dominance race in the AFC East. On Monday, the Patriots rallied from a 10-point half-time deficit to beat the Jets again, imposing their superiority on their supposed rivals in the following year as well.

Belichick burned the jets on Boston Radio

On Tuesday, Belichick spoke to Boston radio station WEE, and the subject of his resignation came up in conversation. He called his resignation “one of the best moments of my career.”

“One – just the most determined – but one of the best moments of my career,” Belichick said. “That together with Robert [Kraft] Giving me a chance to come here, I can’t ask for anything more.

“So, it wasn’t a good situation for me, and I didn’t want to be a part of it, so I wasn’t.”

The mystery and conspiracy has since revolved around the details of the sudden resignation that Belichick gave through an official handwritten note. Questions revolve around what happened behind the scenes, but it is widely acknowledged that Belichick’s decision played a significant role in the transition from team-owned Leon Hess to Woody Johnson.

He reiterated to WEEI on Tuesday that the Jets had a “situation” in 2000 with which they had nothing to do.

“I will try my best for this team and this organization,” Belichick said. “I will give them the best. But I am very grateful for the opportunity to come here, and I will not stay there in that situation. So it worked. “

It certainly works for Belichick and the Patriots – the fact that Belichick is happy to remember the Jets at every opportunity.
