Bighorn Fire burns over 118,300 acres; 54 percent content


TUCSON (KVOA) – Fire crews are making progress on the Bighorn Fire.

The forest fire has grown to 118,370 acres. It is now 54 percent contained.

Currently, there are 904 crew members fighting this fire.

Despite the amount of surface burned, structures have not been damaged.

Fire officials say Wednesday is the last day that crews will provide daily press reports. That is unless conditions change for the worse.

Southeast Catalinas area around Redington Road, bounded by the county line in the east.

Southern Catalina Foothills, Catalina Highway on the western border and Redington Road on the east

Redington community bordered by county lines to the north and east

East slope of the Catalina Mountains south of the Pima County Line and west of the Redington Community

Cochise County:

  • READY-C1 Rattlesnake to Hookers Hot Springs
  • READY-C2 Rattlesnake south and north of Pomerene
  • READY-C3 Mescal to Pomereno.

SET- Southeast of Catalina Foothills, in the Redington area bounded by the Forest Service line in the west and the Italian Trap Tank in the east. See the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Interactive Map for specific limits.

Benson is not in a designated area at this time.

Rattlesnake Road on the Cochise County / Pima County line is closed.

Closings of the Coronado National Forest include: Sabino and Bear Canyons and Catalina State Park.
