‘Big Bang Theory’ star Jim Parsons reveals why he ended the series

Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons recently opened up about why he decided to leave the show when he did just over a year after the last episode aired. After a decade of success on the hit television series, Parson simply “exhausted” after “long hours” and “not enough personal time.” While he was grateful for the life-changing performance, Parsons opened up about the moment of ‘clarity’ he had that essentially led to his decision.

“It was a complicated road, as you can imagine,” he revealed David Tennant does a podcast with … according to PEOPLE admitting that he “had some sort of suspicion in my heart” that he was going to stop calling when he signed to continue through Seasons 11 and 12. While signing his thoughts at the time of his contract, things started to get clearer for him until he packed season 11.. At that moment, he immediately moved to New York City to join the Boys In The Band on Broadway.

Not long after, he was set to shoot a commercial for Intel when he and his husband Todd Spiewak “seriously ill” the dog. That moment of being forced to continue with work but not being able to support his family tore him to pieces. “He just looked so bad, and I was so tired and just started crying,” he admitted. “I was like, ‘This dog will die while I’m away from work and I feel so bad.’ As he pushed forward with his work, he was pushed to his limit.

“It was the worst moment for the next few days because I felt like I was on the edge of a cliff,” he detailed. “I noticed and saw something dark below.” Although the grieving process was not easy for him, he did have a moment of “clarity” about it. “I was sitting in the Saturday matinee, and I kept thinking, ‘I do not know how I’ll get to the end of this show. I was just so depressed. I went to curtain call – I had one more see that night – and I slipped and broke my foot! “

He said the time was “the end of an era” for him after his dog, who was 14, died while he and Spiewak were together for 15 years. “I had this moment of clarity that I think you are very happy to come across in many ways, from going, ‘Don’t stay through.’ You know? ‘Use this time to look around.’ And I did. I was like, ‘I need to make a move.’ “Since the finale of the series in May 2019, Parson has been in television, working as a co-producer of the Fox comedy. Call me Cat.
