Biden says that campaign has increased $ 26M since Kamala Harris announced, in its largest daily hall

Joe Biden’s naming of sen. Kamala Harris of California as his running mate is already paying.

The presumptive Democratic nominee and former vice president announced Wednesday that his campaign has raised a whopping $ 26 million since Tuesday’s announcement about running size.

At a grassroots virtual fundraiser with Harris, Biden said that in the past 24 hours “we’ve raised $ 26 million.”

And he noted that 150,000 of the donors were contributing to his presidential campaign for the first time.

“It’s really palpable, the excitement,” Biden insisted.

The previous record for a single Biden fundraising event appears to be $ 11 million, which was the amount raised by the former vice president when he collaborated with his one-time boss, former president Barack Obama, on a combined grassland bird. a top-dollar donor fundraiser in June.

Harris helped Biden raise campaign costs even before she was elected Democratic vice presidential candidate. A fundraiser beginning June headline by the former vice president and senator raised nearly $ 4 million.

President Trump’s re-election campaign said last week that it, the Republican National Committee (RNC) and its joint money laundering committees contributed a whopping $ 165 million in August. They also touted that they now have more than $ 300 million in cash at the end of July.

The combined Trump campaign / RNC hall was a record and is more than $ 30 million up from the $ 131 million it raised in June. The total of the war chest seems to be a slight increase from the $ 295 million they had at the end of June in their campaign suitcases. The campaign highlighted that July was their biggest online fundraising month ever.

The announcement of Trump’s re-election team came a few hours after Biden’s presidential campaign reported that it, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and its joint monetary commissions combined last month into $ 140 million.

The former vice president’s campaign also showed that they now have $ 294 million in cash at the end of July, an increase of $ 50 million in their coffers last month.

The $ 140 million introduced in July is roughly equal to the $ 141 million raised by the Biden campaign and the DNC in June, which was by far the best monthly figure to date.

The president has raised money for his bid for re-election since he entered the White House three-and-a-half years ago. And the efforts for re-elections have raised an unusual $ 1.1 billion over the past two years.

The former vice president, who declared his candidacy in April of last year, struggled to bring in much of his campaign cash. He raised just $ 8.9 million in January and $ 18 million in February. But he saw his fundraising spike in early March as he became the clear frontrunner for the Democratic nomination and rallied many of the party around his bid for the White House. Biden became the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate in April, as his last remaining primary rival – sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont – fell out of the race and supported the former vice president.

The rise of the Biden campaign in fundraising over the past few months – narrowing the Trump campaign in May and June to a limited extent – helped it trim the once massive advantage of the president.
