Alleged Democratic candidate Joe Biden rejected Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace’s request for an interview, the host said on his show.
“In our interview last week with President Trump, you questioned whether your Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, could handle a similar encounter. This week, we asked for an interview with the Biden campaign and they said the former vice president was not available, “Wallace said on his show Sunday.
“We will continue to ask every week,” he added.
Wallace’s statement came a week after President Trump’s extensive interview on his program, during which the commander-in-chief questioned whether the former vice president would be able to handle such tough questions.
The president told the Fox News presenter that Biden would be “crying for mom” if forced to answer the same type of questions as Wallace.
“Let Biden sit in an interview like this, he will be on the floor crying for Mom. He will say ‘Mommy, Mommy, please take me home,’ ”the president said.
“Well, we’ve asked for an interview, sir,” replied Wallace.
“You can’t do an interview. He is incompetent, “Trump said in response.
Immediately after their interview, Biden’s deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield released a statement addressing the claims made during the hour-long session.
“For over a year, Donald Trump and his campaign have been through the same self-destructive attacks on Joe Biden and have failed to gain the strength of one.
“President Trump gave ‘Fox News Sunday’ another chance this morning. He staggered from one to the other, all while being forcefully corrected at most, including the lie that Joe Biden would not keep the American people safe and supports the dismantling of the police, which has been long forgotten in the past month. “Bedingfield said.
However, she forgot to broach the subject of Biden by making her own appearance on the show.
A day after his interview with Trump, Wallace told Bret Baier, a host of Fox News, that he believed Biden should undergo the same scrutiny and sit down for an interview.
“The fact is, the president is out there. He was out there in this scorching heat with me for an hour, he answered all the questions, “he said in an appearance on Baier’s show last Monday,” He may like his answers or not, but he had answers, and Joe Biden did not answer. No he faced that kind of scrutiny, he didn’t face that kind of exposure. “
“You have to feel that at some point it will come out of the basement. You will have to be more exposed and answer questions as difficult as the ones I asked this president. “
A spokesperson for Biden’s campaign did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.
