Biden is expected to serve as National Security Adviser to Jack Sullivan, Linda Thomas-Greenfield as UN Ambassador

President-elect Joe Biden is likely to appoint Jack Sullivan as his national security adviser and Linda Thomas-Greenfield as US ambassador to the United Nations, multiple sources familiar with the plans told NBC News.

Sullivan served as National Security Adviser to then-Vice President Biden in the Obama administration, as Director of Policy in the State Department, and as Deputy Chief of Staff to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Sullivan later served as a senior policy adviser to Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Thomas-Greenfield served as Assistant Secretary of State for Africa from 2013 to 2017 under former President Barack Obama. Prior to that, she served as US Ambassador to Liberia.

The news comes a day after White House Chief of Staff Ron Klein said Biden would begin naming his cabinet officials publicly. Former Deputy Secretary of State Anthony Blinkon will be named Secretary of State, NBC News reported Sunday.

Meanwhile, Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, who are believed to be hospitalized thanks to the Covid-19 case and hospitalization, arrived in the U.S. on Monday in Wilmington, Delaware. The conference will meet virtually with the conference.

The stalled talks in recent weeks have forced city governments to seek state and local assistance in future coronavirus relief.

A statement following Biden’s expected victory over President Donald Trump congratulated Lewisville, Kentucky, convention president Mayor Greg Fisher, Biden and Harris.

“We are ready to work with Democrats, Republicans and independents and work with you to defeat the coronavirus and rebuild our economy,” the Democrat said. “In the days to come, the mayors of this great nation will do everything possible to help strengthen our communities and build the way forward while sustaining our common humanity.”

Trump still refuses to accept his loss as legal challenges are coming soon.
