Nest Hub Max is one of our favorite smart displays and it scored 86 when we reviewed it. It’s more versatile than Google’s smaller smart displays, as its 10-inch display is great for video viewing and photo viewing, and it also comes with a video camera.
That added hardware feature allows you to video chat with friends and family, and also allows Hub Max to act as a security camera for your home. Instead of using a separate Nest Cam, the camcorder on Hub Max can monitor your home when you’re away, and you can use the companion mobile app to watch the video stream whenever you want. While there is no physical shutter on the camera, you can electronically disable the camera and microphone by sliding the screen.
The camera is also on the lookout for gestures you can take to control the Nest Hub Max, such as holding your palm in front of it to pause a song that’s playing. Since the Max hub is Google’s largest smart display, it is much more powerful in terms of audio than its smaller siblings. It has two front tweeters and a rear woofer, and that helps it sound much better than the normal Nest Hub. All of these features make it a great smart display that deserves a place on the kitchen counter or in the living room, and with this deal, you could have one in both places or spread the capabilities of Google Assistant throughout your home. .
