“But if you ask me, am I particularly comfortable that the then president of the United States could not express his views on Twitter? I don’t feel comfortable about that,” Sanders added.
Twitter’s chief financial officer also told CNBC that Trump would fight for office again and would not be allowed to return to Twitter even if he won.
Sanders, who previously called Trump a racist, said the former president was “directly responsible” for the “chaos” on Jan. 6 and argued that Trump would go down in history as “the worst and most dangerous president in history.”
During his interview on the Times Podcast, Sanders argued that social media platforms should not be used to spread hate speech and conspiracy theories, and that the Internet should not be used for “dictatorial purposes and rebellion.”
Sanders said he doesn’t know how to strike a balance, “but that’s an issue we should consider.”
He also noted that when Trump was banned, “tomorrow he may be someone else whose point of view is very different.”
“So I don’t like to give as much power to a handful of high-tech people. But the devil is clearly in the details and that’s something we’ll have to think long and hard about, and that’s how you’ll save first. The right to reform, ”he said.
