Bernhard Langer may not have fully won the Masters on Friday, but he wins a few times which counts more often.
The 63-year-old Langer became the oldest player to make a cut in the Masters, topping the mark set by Tommy Aaron Ron in 2000 in just 33 days. The official cut line will not be set until Saturday afternoon, but he completed his first round with 68 runs and another 73, which gave him a 3-under par in the tournament.

The German pro is a two-time Masters champion. He won the event in 1985 and 1993. In 1985, he won by two strokes against Savvy Balesteros, Raymond Floyd and Curtis Strange. In 1993, he grabbed the chip back and won by four strokes.
Sadly, Langer said making the cut doesn’t make her look any smaller.
“No, when I play with these young people it really makes me feel older and I see how much they’re hitting him and how soon I’ve hit him,” he said. “I like this golf course. I think I hit clubs for a very long time, even though I know how to get around it. But it’s definitely not easy. “

The master champion gets a lifetime exemption in the tournament. But Langer said he’s still not sure if there’s an age limit to the incident.

“I wasn’t sure if there was an unwritten rule for the age limit for past champion players to play in the Masters, so I asked Chairman Fred Ridley,” Langer said earlier in the week. “I am 63 years old and this year I am the oldest player in the field. “We are welcome to play golf as long as we can stand up straight, and we will all know when is the right time to stop playing,” he said. ”
