Bengals injury update on AJ Green and John Ross

The wide reception area of the Bengals got some good and some bad news on Sunday, when the team hit the field for practice.

Broad receiver John Ross, who has been away from the team for the last few weeks to tend to his family, was present today and worked at the practice. That means he has passed his COVID-19 tests and is ready to rock on training camp with his teammates.

Ross enters the final year of his rookie contract. He needs every rep he can get with new quarterback Joe Burrow to see the former ninth overall pick have a great year and deserves an even bigger payday next offseason.

However, not all news was good, as veteran receiver AJ Green remained sidelined with a hamstring problem that has kept him sidelined for almost a week now. He suffered the injury Monday, although the report was just an adjustment that should not have sidelined him for too long.

After Green effectively missed the entire 2019 season with an ankle injury on day 1 of training camp, the Bengals are likely to be just ultra cautious with their Pro Bowl receiver. Head coach Zac Taylor said he has seen enough of Green not to worry about him practicing until Week 1 vs. of the Los Angeles Chargers.

We can only hope.
