Bears trade second round bust Adam Shaheen with dolphins

The Chicago Bears tight-winged cavalcade became smaller on Saturday, when the team parted ways with another draft raid under general manager Ryan Pace.

The Bears have traded former second-round pick Adam Shaheen to the Miami Dolphins, according to the Chiacgo Tribune. Back to the Bears, there is reportedly a conditional 2021 sixth round draft pick.

Shaheen was drafted by the Bears with the 45th pick in the 2017 Division II Ashland NFL draft. A gigantic 6-foot-6-inch, 257-pound tight end, Shaheen never became the physical force that some envisioned as injuries plagued his three years with the Bears.

In just 27 games in three seasons, Shaheen recorded 249 career receiving yards and four touchdowns. That is 9.2 yards per game. Now, he will head to Miami to compete with Durham Smythe and Michael Roberts for blocking tight end reps alongside starter Mike Gesicki.

Bears go through many tight ends

Shaheen’s departure, as well as the releases by Trey Burton and Ben Braunecker, shed more light on the Bears tight end depth chart, but there are still plenty of names vying for playing time.

Former star Jimmy Graham, top 2020 draft pick Cole Kmet and veteran Demetrius Harris lead the group, with four more players on the team’s current roster.

The Tribune now also has five picks from the first three rounds the Bears split with since Pace took over in 2015: Shaheen, 2015 first-round pick Kevin White and third-round Hroniss Grasu and Leonard Floyd of third round of 2016 and third. rounder Jonathan Bullard.
