Bayern Munich vs. Lyon score: German giants crash in Champions League final; PSG is waiting

German giants Bayern Munich are through to the Champions League final after a 3-0 victory against the underdog Lyon on Wednesday. A first half double by Serge Gnabry and a late header by Robert Lewandowski was the difference in the match.

It was a game of missed opportunities for Lyon. Somewhere they had two great chances to score. One came from Memphis Depay, whose solo finish ended with a shot hitting the side netting of the goal, and another who came from Karl Toko Ekambi, whose heroic run in the box ended flat with a forgotten shot on purpose.

58 minutes after the second missed opportunity – which could have given the French side a 2-0 lead in another universe – Bayern came on board with a superb free-kick from outside the box by former West Brom man Gnabry. He followed that up only 15 minutes later with a poached goal from a rebounded save.

Lyon were able to gain some dominance on the ball in the second half, but the final 45 minutes were where the talent gap really showed with a lack of clinical finish and useful passes to break through Bayern’s defense.

Bayern will now face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, which takes place on Sunday 23 August. The Champions League final will stream on CBS All Access.
