Female staff members at Rocksteady Studios, best known for the Batman: Arkham series, sent a letter back to management back in 2018 and complained about sexual harassment, according to a new report by the Fad.

The letter, reportedly signed by 10 of the 16 women on staff at the time, mentioned a number of persistent issues, including transphobic sloppiness, degrading and sexually explicit remarks about women, and sexual targets that included “unusual advances,” learning from parts of a woman’s body, and unfavorable remarks in the office, ”de Fad reports. These crimes also feel reported in the games of Rocksteady, which include hypersexualized versions of Batman characters such as Poison Ivy and Catworman.

According to one of the Fâd ‘s sources, to address the issues in the letter, Rocksteady held a single business, hour-long training seminar. Employees had to sign a statement confirming that they had attended the training, but according to the source, nothing else seemed to be done to address the issues. “It felt like it was a fair way for her to cover her asses,” the source said.

A Rocksteady spokesman said The guard in a statement, “From day one at Rocksteady Studios, we set out to create a place where people are respected, a place built on respect and inclusion.” The statement was about:

In 2018, we received a letter from some of our female employees expressing their concerns that they had at the time, and we immediately took firm action to address the issues that were raised. Over the next two years, we listened carefully and learned to our staff, working to make every person on the team feel supported. By 2020, we are more passionate than ever to continue to develop our inclusive culture, and we aim to stand up for all our staff.

Rocksteady called after an all-hands call last Thursday to respond specifically to the 2018 letter before being contacted about these issues by De Fad. There, the studio agreed to take further steps. Rocksteady did not immediately respond to a request for comment Kotaku for comment.

De FadThe report comes after a wave of allegations of abuse swept the gaming industry in late June, led in part by reports from widespread harassment and workplace toxicity at Ubisoft. Rocksteady is set to open their next game, Suicide Squad, this weekend at Warner Bros.’s online DC FanDome event.
