Barcelona reached this stage after recording 14 points in Group F, four ahead of runner-up Borussia Dortmund. It drew Napoli 1-1 in the first leg of their 16th match, before going into the quarter-finals last weekend with a 3-1 victory at Camp Nou. Barcelona reach the quarter-finals after losing just two of their last 31 Champions League matches, but there are questions about the club’s make-up, despite the presence of Lionel Messi, who scales in favor of Barcelona move against Napoli. Antoine Griezmann, the club’s sign of summer last year, starts the match on the bench on Friday.
Bayern Munich take on the prize draw amid a dominant run of domestic and Champions League play. Bayern were the only team to collect maximum points in the group stage of the season and finished with 24 goals, one short of PSG’s 2017-18 record. It dominated Chelsea in the round of the 16 matchup, going 7-1 ahead overall, and after winning the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal titles it chased a trible, something that was last achieved in 2013 under the leadership of Jupp Heynckes.
Bayern Munich’s laden squad is led by Robert Lewandowski, who has scored in all seven of his Champions League appearances in 2019-20 and is the top scorer in the league with 13 goals. Lewandowski has 66 career goals on the Champions League stage, accounting for fourth most all-time. He beat Real Madrid’s great Raul by five for third, with Cristiano Ronaldo (130) and Messi (115) far in the distance.
