Bannon calls arrest a ‘political hit job’ and promises to fight

“I’m not going back. This is a political hit,” Bannon said Friday on his conservative podcast, “War Room.” “Everyone knows I love a fight.”

Bannon claimed his arrest was “to stop and intimidate people” who support Trump in building the walls on the U.S. southern border.

“I’m sitting here for a long time. I’m fighting here. I’m going to continue fighting,” Bannon said.

The three people accused along with Steve Bannon: Brian Kolfage, Andrew Badolato and Timothy Shea
Bannon and three others were accused Thursday of donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to an online crowdfunding campaign called We Build the Wall for, among other personal expenses.
Bannon and another suspect, Brian Kolfage, had promised donors that the campaign – which eventually raised more than $ 25 million – would use 100% of those funds to build the border wall, according to the indictment.

Instead, he used, according to prosecutors, more than $ 1 million from We Build the Wall to pay Kolfage “in secret” and cover hundreds of thousands of dollars in Bannon’s personal expenses.

The former adviser to the president was also accused of one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to launder money. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and on Friday he told his listeners of the podcast that the charges against him were “nonsense.”
