Baltimore gas explosion level houses; at least 1 woman killed, rescued along the way


A gas explosion in Baltimore has put adults and children in jail, according to reports.

Fox Baltimore reports that medical units have been called to the scene and the Baltimore County Fire Department has been called to help. One woman was confirmed dead after the explosion.

“Several houses exploded. At least 5 people arrested, some children. A crash response and second alarm has been called, ‘tweeted Baltimore firefighter IAFF Local 734. The tweet was retweeted by the Baltimore Office of Emergency Management.

The blast killed one person and injured several others, the Balty Fire Brigade reported. Firefighters were in contact with a person trapped in the rubble, the union reported. The blast appeared to have hit several homes, according to the union.

It happened at 10 a.m. in the northeastern part of Baltimore.

Witnesses told WJZ-TV that they heard a loud explosion and shook the ground.
