Ball St. beat WMU in a wild bench-clearing ending

Ball State is extremely grateful that officials were paying close attention to West Michigan’s final play on Saturday.

The Cardinals took a 30-27 lead over the Broncos with 32 seconds. The WMU could not get close enough to the end zone for a game-building goal so the Broncos had to make a last-breath attempt for a game-winning TD.

The last breath of the game involved 15 Laterals and the entire Ball State team on the field. And it almost worked. Here’s how he developed WMU wide receiver Sky Moore The Broncos hope he will be the winning scorer in the field together with the players on the ball field.

The forward lateral was called an illegal forward pass on the field long after it was thrown on the eighth side of the play. West Michigan tumbled a few after the ball and the entire Ball State bench apparently thought the fuss was dead and the play was over. The only explanation is why the team attacked on the field.

However this variability has not been recovered. With Ball State players on the field, Western Michigan continued to play. In the same way Moore ended up with a clear path to the ball and the end zone.

The ball state was flagged for the bench to come on the field. But it came after a penalty forward pass. And because it was a dead ball foul, it couldn’t be offset by a forward pass penalty and Ball State won the game.

The game was also incredibly important. The winner won the McWest Division. That means the Cardinals will take on the undefeated Buffalo for the MAC title on Friday night.
