Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean joins season 29 of ‘Dancing With the Stars’


Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean will put his boy band skills to the test on season 29 of “Dancing with the Stars.”

The 42-year-old singer confirmed Thursday that he will be joining the cast, along with ‘The Bachelorette’ star Kaitlyn Bristowe. There is still no word on who his pro-partner will be.

McLean told Good Morning America that his two daughters, ages 3 and 7, are very excited to see him in the ABC league.

“They’re stick – especially my oldest,” he revealed.

“She’s been doing competitive dancing for the last two years and my youngest is obviously trying to follow in her big sister’s footsteps, so they’re both just excited. It’s going to be great for her to see Dad cut a jig on TV,” he said. Jokte McLean.

On Instagram, the singer said he was ready to win the coveted Mirrorball trophy.

“We’re going for the mirrorball, baby !! I’m so grateful to @dancingabc and @abcnetwork for the opportunity to participate in this season’s cast of #DWTS. I also want to thank my wife and my two girls for leaving Dad go on this new adventure. I’ll do it ALL for you! Get ready, BSB army, this is going to be a wild ride. LET’S DO IT !!!!!! “he wrote.

McLean is not the first BSB member to step on the ballroom floor. Five years ago, Nick Carter came in second in the series.

“If there’s anyone who can get the Mirrorball, it’s definitely you,” Carter told his friend on “GMA.”

This season of “DWTS” will be different from all other seasons because precautionary measures are being taken in the coronavirus pandemic. For example, the dancers (even the couples) have to live separately for the whole of the filming.

The rule was implemented so that if one pro dancer gets infected, the fate of the other pro in the competition is not in danger.

In addition, longtime hosts Tom Bergen and Erin Andrews were replaced by ‘America’s Top Model’ judge Tyra Banks.

The full celebrity lineup has yet to be announced.

“Dancing with the Stars” will premiere on September 14 on ABC.
