“You will never walk alone” – 100 years topped the UK charts

Captain Tom Moore had made the headlines with a coronavirus fundraiser in recent weeks that raised more than £ 28 million.

Moore from Marston Moretaine near Milton Keynes had walked 100 laps through his backyard with his walker. The money will go to the NHS National Health Service, which is heavily burdened by the coronavirus pandemic. Moore even managed to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest amount ever raised in a donation.

He recorded the song with British singer and actor Michael Ball and an NHS choir. “What wonderful news,” said Moore, the British PA news agency when they learned of its success. “My grandchildren can’t believe I’m going to top the charts!”

Their single sold more than 80,000 copies by Friday; earnings also benefit the NHS. Canadian singer The Weeknd, who had previously been number one with his song “Blinding Lights”, helped a little. He called on his social media fans to buy Moore’s song.

Moore turns 100 next Thursday. He is the oldest artist with a number one success in the UK. This record was previously kept by Tom Jones, who reached the top of the charts in 2009 with the song “Barry Islands In The Stream” in 2009. Jones couldn’t help but congratulate Moore.
