With the locks relaxing, there are also new rules for traveling. When returning from most countries, you must be in quarantine.
Starting on Monday, the first opening steps will be taken in Austria after the hard lockdown. But: The government has also issued new restrictions. So too a new rule for traveling. Because if you want to travel abroad for the Christmas holidays, then you have to quarantine. At least if you return to Austria from countries with a 14-day incidence of more than 100 (per 100,000 inhabitants). Then there are ten days in isolation. You can test yourself for free after at least five days. At work you have to take a vacation, the trip quarantine is no reason for excuse. There will be exemptions for commuters.
The “safe” countries
But which countries actually fall into the quarantine category? A look at the current 7-day incidence shows: Almost all countries in Europe! Not even Austria itself would qualify with a current incidence of 160. Data from the Robert Koch Institute and Johns Hopkins University as of December 1 shows only six European countries with an incidence of 7 days (attention, the government wants to use the incidence of 14 days) with an average value of less than 100 New infections per 100,000 inhabitants per day from: Faroe Islands (5.8), Iceland (28.3), Ireland (37.2), Finland (53.8), Norway (56.4) and Monaco (67.9). But be careful: the fact that these countries are considered “safe” from the Austrian point of view does not guarantee a smooth trip. Because these countries can, for their part, impose quarantine rules for travelers from Austria.
