A human tragedy shocks Ried im Innkreis. After a fire, a 72-year-old woman disappeared without a trace, now her body has been found.
On Saturday morning, a fire broke out in a semi-detached house in Ried im Innkreis, Upper Austria. The owner (72) noticed the fire in the area of a tiled stove in her living room and then left the house, presumably on her bicycle, to personally alert the volunteer firefighters at her armory about ten kilometers away. Why he did that remains a mystery.
Her husband, who was ten years older than her, also noticed the flames and made an emergency call himself. The summoned firefighters managed to quickly control the fire, which had already spread throughout the room, and put it out. The 82-year-old man was hospitalized with suspected smoke gas poisoning, but there was no sign of his wife. She stayed out – reported “Today”.
Hiding from the police
Emergency services searched for the woman all day with public help, and police reported the horror on Sunday afternoon. His body had been found.
A doctor determined death from frostbite as the cause of death. It is not yet clear why, but according to the police, the missing person was “hidden” on the company’s premises from search parties sent by her. The 72-year-old should have died from the freezing temperatures. Third party debt is excluded.
