Just hours after a 35-year-old man was doused with a burning liquid and set on fire in Vienna-Alsergrund, police have now released a photo of the suspect. The chase was taking effect and the man, allegedly her boyfriend or ex-boyfriend, called the emergency number on his own. He then allowed WEGA to arrest him without resistance in Vienna-Donaustadt.
The man is said to be a 47-year-old Austrian. He and the victim likely had an on-and-off relationship. The seriously injured person was able to tell the emergency room doctor that the alleged assailant was the woman’s boyfriend or ex-boyfriend. According to the professional rescue service in Vienna, she suffered severe burns and is currently being treated in hospital. His life is in danger.
The gruesome act occurred on Friday afternoon in Nussdorfer Strasse. The perpetrator is said to have gone to the tobacco shop operated by the victim, poured gasoline or other flammable liquid on him, and set him on fire. Then the suspect escapes. The police are said to have seen him before.
