Bernd Wiesberger begins the final day in eighth place at the Italian Open for golf professionals. Last year’s winner played a round of 68 (four under par) at Chervo GC in Brescia on Saturday and thus maintained his position. Matthias Schwab achieved a round of 69 in the million euro event and improved to 48th place.
Wiesberger got off to a great start with four birdies in the first six holes. Initially, two bogeys pushed the Burgenlander back, but with more birdies on the 13th hole and on the last hole he stayed in the top field. Before the final lap, Wiesberger was six strokes behind leading English duo Laurie Canter and Ross McGowan.
Schwab was three places below par 15. “This round was characterized by bad putts. The long game was good,” said the Styrian.
