Golf pro Bernd Wiesberger from Bad Tatzmannsdorf placed in the top ten thanks to a strong final round at the European Tour tournament in Dubai ($ 3.25 million). The 35-year-old continued to improve, because after Thursday’s first lap, Wiesberger was still in 78th place.
The 42nd in the world rankings played consistently well in rounds two through four and thus improved 72 places. Wiesberger finished the tournament in Dubai, worth 2.7 million euros, with a total of nine under par in shared sixth place.
Dissatisfied with the available space
Wiesberger was not satisfied with the space available: “I have to say I played solid golf all weekend. It was very frustrating, the greens weren’t very good, I’ll be happy when they dig up the course and rebuild it in May because it was quite frustrating. After his first two tournaments this year, Wiesberger is still positive, in Abu Dhabi he was 25th and now sixth: “There were good things everywhere, in all aspects of my game. It wasn’t like I could put him on the scorecard at 72 holes in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. But I’m very positive about my long game and my consistency, if the putts also fall, I’m very positive and satisfied with my results, especially after this long winter break.
Englishman Paul Casey won the European Tour tournament in Dubai with 17 strokes under par. The Briton received a cash prize of 435,000 euros for winning the tournament.
