Registering all the guests to the event would be “extremely slow” for the winemakers, as the organizers say.

A week and a half ago, the organizers remained confident and presented the Corona concept for the scheduled 14th edition. Special measures such as administration, markings on the floor in front of food distribution points, and person limits in some catering areas should have ensured a safe process.
Many guests still refuse
The registration requirement, which has been in effect since Monday, apparently shouldn’t start off smoothly. The chairman of the group of catering specialists at the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, Peter Dobcak, reported in the morning of an initial “quick survey”, according to which only 60 percent of visitors said they wanted to register. As a result, Dobcak fears a drop in sales and angrily appealed to the remaining 40 percent: “Please calm down!”
In his initial feedback, the hosts told him about some of the “wildest” discussions with guests who didn’t want to reveal their dates. Dobcak asked for more calm on the part of the clients. What if you give your name, email address, and phone number? “That is kept for four weeks and then thrown away,” explained the treasurer: “What else should the owner do with it?”
Many people would give their data voluntarily and without hesitation for the use of social networks or customer cards of retail chains. The current “initial stir of rejection” is probably due to the “small revolutionary heart of the Viennese.” In this sense, Dobcak hopes to get used to it quickly: “I suppose this will be more and more common in a few days.” In any case, I would prefer a registration requirement rather than a 10pm curfew

Dobcak criticized the ambiguities on some points that were clarified in the office of the Councilor for Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ): For example, outdoor canteens are included in the obligation, but it does not apply to cafeterias, since they enter the take away food area excluded.
The registration requirement in the federal capital applies initially until the end of the year. Hosts who refuse to implement the regulation face a fine. According to the City Council, data protection must be guaranteed. The authorities can only inspect the forms in case of infection.
The current measure was welcomed on Monday by Health Minister Rudolf Anschober and SPÖ head Pamela Rendi-Wagner because it would considerably simplify the follow-up of contacts.
