The old Leiner area in the city center will become a “city within the city” in the next few years: a new residential area will be built there with hundreds of apartments including underground parking spaces. Above all, construction will take place upwards – some of the buildings will be at eye level with the nearby water tower. It is also planned: local suppliers, shops and “urban gardening” for the neighbors.
600 planned apartments
A net area of 55,000 square meters will be created on an area of 23,000 square meters. A total of around 600 residential units are planned, including private balconies, terraces or gardens. A little more than half of all construction areas should include apartments; both rental and owner-occupied apartments are provided.
There is also a “music education center” with a kindergarten, a primary school, a new secondary school and a music school. Wiener Neustadts Green against the “housing megaproject”
The Wiener Neustädter Grünen speaks out against the “mega residential construction project in the middle of the city center, along with a shopping center, a cultural hall and a school,” said club president Selina Prünster. “It is true that the densification of the city center is completely in our interest, but we are very critical of the fact that the limits are being broken,” added Councilman Michael Diller.

ÖVP accuses the Greens of half-knowledge
