November begins with blazing temperatures.
The beginning of the week brings the Austrians a mild autumn weather. As forecasters from the Central Institute of Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) predicted Sunday, the thermometer will rise to a pleasant 20 degrees on Monday and Tuesday. Otherwise, the weather will change in the fall over the next week.
The forecast in detail
On Monday, the influence of high pressure increases slowly and with a current from west to southwest, very gentle air masses are introduced. In the west and south, sunny weather prevails, even if some fields of high clouds pass. From Salzburg to the east, however, there are still numerous thick clouds. In places in the north and east there may be some raindrops at first, only in the course of the afternoon the weather becomes friendlier here too. The wind blows weak to moderate from southeast to west. The early temperatures are three to twelve degrees, the daily maximum temperatures rise to 14 to 21 degrees very mild. It is hotter in Vienna, Lower Austria or Tyrol.
A high-altitude current from the southwest brings warm air masses on Tuesday, but a cold front is slowly spreading west and north of Austria. In many regions, however, sunlight still dominates and fields of swirling clouds remain harmless. Only in Vorarlberg and Tirol, as well as from Flachgau to Waldviertel, the clouds rise rapidly and here it starts to rain in the afternoon. The snow line finally drops to 1,500 meters at night. The wind blows from weak to moderate mainly from south to west. Early temperatures are three to twelve degrees, daily maximum temperatures from west to east are ten to 20 degrees.
It’s raining
On Wednesday there is a fault zone in Austria. Brings widespread dense clouds, sometimes it rains. In the afternoon, the rain in the east and southeast largely subsides, otherwise it remains rainy. The snowfall line descends at dusk in the north and on the north side of the Alps at about 1,300 meters above sea level, in the south it remains above 2,000 meters. At the eastern edge of the Alps there is also a strong wind from northwest to north, otherwise it is a rather weak wind. There is no pronounced warming during the day, temperatures hover between five and 13 degrees throughout the day.
On Thursday, low clouds are expected to remain in the west for a long time, of which occasionally drizzle. To the east there are initially even denser residual clouds, but here they are shed more and more frequently during the day and sunlight predominates. There is generally little wind. Only on the eastern edge of the Alps a partly strong northwesterly wind still blows during the day, but subsides at dusk. In the morning the temperatures range between two and nine degrees, during the day between seven and 13 degrees.
The influence of high pressure spreads across Austria on Friday and ensures sunny, dry and weak weather everywhere. Plan for morning fog and high fog fields, especially in the western valleys and the southeastern basins of the country. Early temperatures range from minus two to plus five degrees, during the day thanks to the sun there is a strong warming of eight to 13 degrees.
