Pankratius, Servatius, Bonifatius, and Sophie often bring showers, strong winds, and the snow line falls. This was forecast by the Central Institute of Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG).
Rain and thunderstorms on Monday
On Monday dense clouds build up on the southern side of the Alps as far as Upper Carinthia and sometimes it rains there. Otherwise, the high and medium-high cloud fields move across the sky from the southwest, but the sun appears in between. Only in the late afternoon and at dusk do rain showers or thunderstorms approach from the surprising cold front in the west and north.
Up to 28 degrees
The snowfall limit is initially 2,000 meters, but then drops significantly at night. Before the fault zone arrives, hits on the foehn lines and the east are often lively in strong southerly winds. Early temperatures reach seven to 17 degrees, during the day there are particularly large temperature contrasts, the highest values reach 16 to 28 degrees from southwest to northeast.
The snow line falls 600 meters
On Tuesday mornings, rains often fall, the snowfall limit is usually between 600 and 1,000 meters on the north alpine side, much higher in the south. During the day, the sun will soon reappear, especially in the northern and eastern lowlands, and the last rains in the Northern Alps will soon fade.
However, it is likely to be more cloudy on the southern side of the Alps, where the tendency for rain increases again in the afternoon. It usually blows only weak to moderate, but initially from strong to strong winds from the northwest to the north of the Alps. Early temperatures are two to ten degrees, maximum daily temperatures are eight to 17 degrees.
Cloudy weather on Wednesday
The Eastern Alps enter a western stream on Wednesday and a low ground forms over the Gulf of Genoa. Therefore, there is interference in Austria with widespread dense cloud cover and rain. In general, it is a little windy, in the east there is a moderate wind from south to northeast. The initial values are between two and eleven degrees, the highest values between ten and 18 degrees.
Improved sight
The interference influence only gradually weakens on Thursday. In many cases it remains strong, with cloudy clouds in the north and east. During the first half of the day it rains a lot, except in the west. At night, the focus of precipitation is in the south and southwest. The snow cap on the north side of the Alps is again between 1,000 and 1,600 meters during the day. The northwest wind comes alive on the eastern edge of the Alps. The initial values are between four and ten degrees, the daily maximum between eight and 16 degrees.
Friday partly sunny again
With a southwest current, another disturbance hits western Austria on Friday, mostly with occasional showers and storms. In the east and southeast it remains rainless and still quite sunny. A strong southeast wind blows on the eastern edge of the Alps. Early temperatures reach three to eight degrees 8, daily maximum temperatures are 17 to 23 degrees.
