Weather: Fog follows the first winter greeting

[ad_1]

In the west there are some residual clouds or a bit of fog on Monday morning, but here the weather sets in quickly and consistently. In the rest of Austria, however, there are still some dense cloud fields which, especially in the east and southeast, ensure fairly cloudy conditions even in the afternoon. In the north, the sun rises more frequently. The wind is weak, initially more from the west, in the afternoon more from east to south. Early temperatures are minus two to six degrees, daily highs are nine to 15 degrees.

Temperatures rise again to 20 degrees

Tuesday begins with fog and fields of high fog over the lowlands and partly also in the inner Alps, which can often linger well into the afternoon. Away from the fog it is sunny, even if some fields of high clouds cover the sky. In the eastern lowlands and in foehn it extends over the main alpine range, with moderate to strong winds from southeast to south. The thermometer shows minus two to six degrees in the morning, often only eight to twelve degrees during the day when it is foggy, otherwise up to 20 degrees, with the highest temperatures in the slightly fehnic west.

Lots of sun on wednesday

Under the influence of a southern foehn wind, Wednesday weather in the eastern Alps is mostly sunny and warm. Most of the time, the sun even shines undisturbed. The thin veil clouds in high layers hardly disturb. Only in basins and valleys, but especially in the north and east, as well as the eastern edge of the Alps and in the south, partially thick fog or high fog should be expected during the early hours of the day. However, the last remnants of fog should disappear by noon. The wind blows from weak to moderate, in the foehn regions on the north side of the Alps, lively from south to southwest. In the morning it is zero to ten degrees, during the day, depending on the duration of the sun – ten to 24 degrees, the warmest in the valleys of Föhntal.

Thursday starts with fog

In basins and valleys, Thursday begins with fog or high fog of varying degrees of persistence. However, after the wet layer has dissolved, there is usually sunny weather. Apart from the thin veil clouds, the sun usually shines undisturbed. The predominant wind direction is from southeast to southwest. The wind blows from here, especially on the northern side of the Alps, sometimes moderate to strong – early temperatures: two to ten degrees; daily highs: eleven to 21 degrees, the warmest with southern foehn in the west.

The cold front will come to us from Friday

In basins and valleys, but especially in the eastern plains, in the Danube valley and in the central region of Upper Austria and in many inland alpine basins and valleys, there is thick fog or high fog on Friday. First, the sun shines on it. However, in the morning, the first clouds of a cold front arrived in Austria from the west and then moved to the east. With them, the chance of fog clearing increases in the lowlands. However, rain should be expected in the west and north at dusk. At the moment, the snow line is still above 2,000 meters. There is usually only a weak wind, but in the Föhn valleys on the northern side of the Alps, the southern foehn is moderate to lively. In the morning the temperatures range between five and eleven degrees, during the day between eight and 20 degrees.
