A car was impaled by a combine harvester in a collision in Neunkirchen district on Monday. The driver suffered serious injuries.
An 18-year-old from the Neunkirchen district was driving a combine harvester in the Natschbach district (Neunkirchen district) on Seebensteinerstraße towards Neunkirchen around 5:25 pm
A cutter with a width of approximately 3.6 meters was mounted on the combine. It jutted out on the opposite lane and rose to a height of almost 1.2 meters. According to the police, the combine was traveling without an escort vehicle and had switched on the low beam and orange beacon.
At the same time, a 70-year-old woman, also from the Neunkirchen district, was driving her VW Golf in the opposite direction. The two vehicles collided, with the combine slicing through the left side of the windshield.
Driver suffered a skull fracture
The combine literally went right through the Golf and into it. The 70-year-old man suffered serious head injuries (broken skull) in the collision and was transferred to the Wiener Neustadt Regional Hospital after receiving initial medical treatment at the crash site.
To separate the two vehicles, the deformed parts of the Golf vehicle had to be removed using hydraulic rescue shears. Then the Volkswagen could be pulled out of the cutter with the help of the winch. L141 was closed for about two hours during the mission. A detour has been established.
