Vorarlberg Governor Markus Wallner (ÖVP) is leading the negotiations with the federal government on possible opening steps from March 15.

What will the first steps in Vorarlberg look like from March 15? This question has not been clarified after talks between the state government and the Ministry of Health until late at night. Statements can be expected from 11.15 am at the earliest.

Obviously, the videoconference negotiations proved difficult.

Corona Self Checks as Access Permission?

The big issue was likely to be the extent to which corona self-tests can be used as access permissions. The country saw the use of self-tests as a basis for possible initial steps. The Vienna Ministry of Health was reluctant to do so. Until recently, it was unclear whether an agreement could be reached on this issue. In any case, it is certain that self-tests could only allow access to restaurants and company.

Vorarlberg may have to slow down the initial steps

Vorarlberg wanted to open both the indoor and outdoor catering trade on March 15, but there may be cuts. The opening in the outdoor area could be implemented as planned on March 15, but in the indoor area only later, that is, after Easter. For most Vorarlberg restaurateurs that would be a “no go”, as well as a curfew before 10 pm or 11 pm.

Sports and cultural events with few visitors

Visits to cultural and sporting events should once again be possible on a small scale. In the cultural area, initially there were 50 visitors.
