New revelations about the FPÖ: how the party is said to have turned the Asfinag supervisory board into an entrepreneur and what does that have to do with the FPÖ bus.

The new chats also show that Stieglitz is said to have provided a travel bus as an electoral vehicle for free as early as 2017 for the election campaign of the FPÖ National Council or for the then party leader Heinz-Christian Strache. “This can become our NR election bus. Response from Strache: “You are a bad boy!” Strache then thanked Stieglitz for the bus (“with your bus we also have the longest”), shortly before the elections, Steglitz again declared that the bus had been damaged, but “we will not let ourselves stop on the common path ”.
“The agreements must be maintained”
After the elections and the turn of the year, the conversation continued in January 2018: Stieglitz apparently asked Strache what the “guarantee” was that according to Norbert Hofer he should be sent to the supervisory board, and if Strache knew more about. He became more aggressive in February 2018: Stieglitz checked with Strache again and let them know “The agreements must be maintained.” Strache responded that he would speak to Hofer, in early March, Stieglitz was appointed to the supervisory board, and he thanked Strache for a message.

However, nothing came of that: the ÖBB supervisory board preferred another candidate to Stieglitz, saying that he had been offered a position on the supervisory board at Postbus. Stieglitz and Strache were surprised and announced that they would talk to Hofer, who was then Minister of Infrastructure, about their actually fixed ÖBB “compromise”. Hofer, in turn, declared that there was “referred to on request “, but the president probably wanted a different solution.
It is not the end of the flagpole: Stieglitz was scheduled for a position at Verbund in 2019 and Strache communicated in advance if he was interested in a position on the supervisory board in an ÖBAG position. Stieglitz did not seem to have completely overcome ÖBB’s rejection: “As a replacement for ÖBB Holding, for example, I would be interested in OMV’s AR …”. After all, it was faster: the Ibiza scandal not only shattered the government and toppled Strache, it also thwarted Stieglitz’s career aspirations. Green Transport Minister Leonore Gewessler eventually removed Stieglitz from the Asfinag supervisory board.
