The start-up Kaleido AI, founded two years ago, is being sold to Australia, according to several media today. The company, known for its apps that remove the background from photos and videos, is targeting Canva, an Australian design platform.

According to the company, it is “one of the largest outputs in Austrian startup history,” the “Standard” quoted. Kaleido has around 20 million users, including more than 80,000 paying customers, as Futurezone writes. The Vienna location will now expand through the sale, the previous team of 30 people to double by year-end, they say.

The company itself leads other large acquisitions of Austrian startups, but the sale price was not disclosed. Kaleido refers to the fitness app Runtastic, which went to adidas for 220 million, while the second-hand app Shpock has been sold for around 200 million euros.
