The quota of women has been debated for a long time, now the Vienna Greens put into play the idea of preferring migrants: in the daily today Birgit Hebein, Vienna’s deputy mayor, says she advocates prioritizing migrants in jobs close to the city.
“If all qualifications are equal, then wherever the City of Vienna acts as an employer, we are responsible for the best possible representative representation of society. We see multilingualism as an asset and an opportunity to work with and for communities, ”said a Hebein spokesperson. This regulation currently applies to women in public service if applicants are equally well qualified.
FPÖ and Strache shake their heads
Reactions to this are, at least in part, to be expected. The FPÖ speaks of “unjust national discrimination”; an idea that “only the Greens could have”, writes the head of the Vienna FPÖ, Dominik Nepp.
