The live broadcast of the fireworks was announced on the Innsbruck City Marketing Facebook page. Tirol TV will also broadcast “The Best of Fireworks” to homes at midnight.
Viennese slipped at home
In Vienna, where in other years tens of thousands of people frolic on the New Year’s Eve Road, the atmosphere was eerie. The streets were, due to closure and curfew, as if they were empty. In addition, an icy veil of fog had covered the city, as shown by a video of the Graben city center. Despite the ban, countless firecrackers were fired at midnight.

Despite the ongoing corona pandemic, Austria is entering the new year with confidence. Cardinal Christoph acknowledged “a silver lining” in his mandatory television speech on New Year’s Eve. The vaccination also gives hope to the Archbishop of Vienna. Also, everything will be fine, “because God is good,” emphasized Schönborn.
